Greetings Bartrum Family!
I am starting this blog to honor our Bartrum family- including those of us present, those who have passed on, and those who will born into our family in the future. Family history has been a passion of mine for almost 20 years. Most of my research during this time has been in our Bartrum/Hess family lines. As I have learned of our ancestors hardships and joys I have grown to love them- and want to share their stories with others. We come from strong people who suffered much and lived on the western edge of society. Their examples have brought me strength during hard times and I hope will to you as well.

I am a brand new blogger. I have no clue what I am doing, so please forgive the mistakes I will make. I just want to share what I have learned so that it can be of benefit to each of you and your families. If you have additional information to share or learned things a different way, please share in the comments or contact me. Family history is like a puzzle where there is always a missing piece or pieces that don't quite fit together. I hope that through our collaborative efforts we can learn a little more about those who came before us.

It is my hope to share a family tree with you very soon!

Much love,
Jessie

  2. Jess this is so awesome. I have some info about grandmother. She went to Birch Run Elementary a one room school grades 1-8. It was located in Lucas, West Virgina. At 13 Pap Pap moved to Ansted so she could go to high school. She was on the debate team and graduated at 17. Her best friend was was a girl named Gordon Eagon. Gordon died of pneumonia their senior year. Grandmother said Gordon tutored her because she was behind when she started high school.
She also told me that Winfield's brothers were Samuel, John, Nate or Nathan, and a sister Harriett (im not sure if that's all). When they came to to West Virginia they each owned a 100 acres of land.
I thought you might be interested in these few tidbits of info.
    All my love Stacy
